Avraham Yitzhak, 1972-

Yitzhak, who moved to Israel at age 19, was the first Ethiopian immigrant to earn an Israeli medical degree and to serve as an IDF combat surgeon. He was wounded during the Second Lebanon War. He participated in the 2010 humanitarian mission to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. In 2016 he became the first Ethiopian-Israeli to reach the rank of colonel and was named the chief medical officer of the Southern Command.
