A politician, lawyer, diplomat and writer who immigrated to Israel in 1935, Herzog was Israel’s sixth president. He led IDF military intelligence after the War of Independence. When the U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution declaring Zionism a form of racism in 1975, he was the ambassador to the United Nations and shredded the text. He was the father of Israel’s 11th president, Isaac Herzog.
