Alon Tal, 1960-

One of Israel’s leading environmentalists, Tal is a member of the Knesset for Blue and White. A North Carolina native who made aliyah after college, he founded the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in 1996 and co-founded the Green Zionist Alliance in 2001 and the Green Movement political party in 2008. He has written an environmental history of Israel. He teaches public policy at Tel Aviv University.
