A Palmach veteran of the War of Independence, Ophir was a comedian, actor and singer for whom the Israeli Film Academy Award was named. He starred in almost 30 films, including the Hebrew version of “My Fair Lady.” Along with skits and films, Ophir appeared in several television shows in the 1950s and 1960s, performed in Hollywood and New York, and directed TV shows in the 1980s.
