Israel’s largest bank, established in 1921 by the Histadrut (General Federation of Laborers in the Land of Israel), is nationalized in 1983 as part of Israel’s Bank Stock Crisis. In 1996, the bank is purchased back from the government by a group led by Israeli, Ted Arison.
