During the 1948 war, the “Burma Road” is built to Jerusalem to by-pass Arabs’ attacks and the blockade of the main road to Jerusalem. The road provides essential supplies and water for Jewish Jerusalem, which is otherwise cut off from the rest of Jewish Palestine.
