Amid strong domestic opposition, Israel evacuates and razes the city of Yamit as part of the return of the Sinai to Egypt (according to the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty). Shortly thereafter, Israel completes a full withdrawal from Sinai, except from a small portion of Tabah near Eilat.
