A lifelong resident of the Druze village of Daliyat al-Karmel, Kamal-Mreeh in 2017 became the first non-Jewish woman to anchor a Hebrew-language news program on Israeli television. In 2019, as part of Blue and White, she was the first Druze woman elected to the Knesset. Since 2021 she has served as a U.S. shlicha (emissary) for the Jewish Agency, making her the agency’s first non-Jewish senior emissary.
