The 10th president of Israel from 2014 to 2021, Rivlin was a Likud politician who served as the speaker of the Knesset from 2003 to 2006 and 2009 to 2013. As president, he pushed for moderation in the government. He was president through six Knesset elections, and through the inconclusive voting from 2019 to 2021 he sometimes had to give multiple party leaders a chance to form a government.
