By the terms of the January 2025 Israel-Hamas cease-fire agreement, Hamas has so far released 33 hostages, including one American and five Thai nationals, while Israel has freed nearly 2,000 Palestinians imprisoned for various reasons. To sustain implementation of the agreement into the second and third phases, Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. are vigorously engaged in talks.
