Hurvitz in 1976 merged three companies, including one where he started working in college, into Teva Pharmaceuticals, the world’s largest manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals, which he led as CEO for 25 years and as chairman until his death. He led Shimon Peres‘ anti-inflation program in the mid-1980s and later served as the chairman of the board of the Israel Democracy Institute and Bank Leumi.
