In this four part video series, CIE Vice President Rich Walter speaks with Emory University Professor Rabbi Michael Berger about the influence of religion in Israel’s politics.
Part one explores the history and evolution of Israel’s religious, Jewish parties. Part two focusses on the interests of the religious parties and how those platforms have affected their participation in Israel’s coalition building process over time. Part three discusses the participation of religious Jews in “secular” parties and some of the issues that influence how the country’s religious Jews vote. Part four looks at the impact of security as a primary motivator for how the country votes in national elections and the importance that religious issues play in local elections.
