Arlosoroff, an ardent socialist and Zionist, was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Palestine in 1921. He was a founder of the Histadrut labor federation. Working with the Jewish Agency, he helped negotiate the Haavara program, which allowed German Jews to move to Palestine but enriched the Nazis. Before the agreement was signed, Arlosoroff was murdered on a beach in Tel Aviv. The identity of his killers remains unknown.
