Shimon Shamir, 1933-

Shimon Shamir was Israel’s first ambassador to Jordan and its second to Egypt. A scholar of the Middle East, he is a professor emeritus in the faculty of humanities at Tel Aviv University. He was an advocate for Israel in speeches across Europe in the 1970s. He has provided his expertise in articles for the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
