Mansour Abbas, 1974-

Abbas is a dentist who lives in the Galilee town of Maghar. Since 2019, he has served in the Knesset as the head of the Islamist party Ra’am. After Ra’am broke from the Joint List of four Arab-majority parties to run by itself in 2021, it became the first independent Arab party to enter a governing coalition. He defends Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. He serves as deputy Knesset speaker pending the fall 2022 election.
