The Zionist Congress is the supreme institution and legislature of the World Zionist Organization (WZO). The First Zionist Congress was convened by Theodor Herzl and took place in Basel, Switzerland in 1897. The Congress now meets once every five years in Israel. The Congress formulates policy and oversees the WZO’s institutions, notably the Jewish National Fund and the Jewish Agency for Israel.

In this educational supplement, we present the various iterations of the WZO’s platform as it has evolved over time with suggested discussion topics and activities for learners in grades 7 and up.
