Shaffir was the youngest-ever female member of the Knesset when she was elected with the Labor Party in 2013. She remained in the Knesset until 2020. She leads the Green Party. She rose to prominence as an organizer of the 2011 social justice protests. She has been active on government transparency, women’s and LGBTQ rights, and educational opportunities for people with autism and other special needs.
