In 1948, following the Israeli War of Independence, 70 Jews are killed and more than 200 are wounded in Anti-Jewish riots and bombings in Cairo and Alexandria. By 1950, 40% of Egypt’s 70,000 Jews emigrate to Israel, Europe and the Americas. Following the 1956 Suez Crisis, an additional 25,000 Jews depart, leaving less than 200 Jews in Egypt in 2013.
