Born in 1920 in Moscow, Russia, Aharon Rabinovich (Yariv) immigrates to Palestine in 1935, promptly beginning his military career with the Haganah in 1938. Yariv goes on to direct IDF military intelligence from 1964-1972. Following his leading of direct talks with the Egyptians after the October 1973 War at “Kilometer 101,” Yariv is elected to the Knesset, where he serves until 1977. That same year, he helps found the prestigious Jaffe Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University, which he heads until his death in 1994.
