Arab summit meets in Casablanca. Egypt is formally readmitted into the Arab League. Mid-month, Prime Minister Shamir submits a four point peace plan which includes efforts to achieve agreements with other Arab states, assistance to the refugees in the territories, elections of Palestinians to represent them in discussions with Israelis about Palestinian self-government, and reaffirmation of the contents of the Camp David Accords. The intifadah continues.
