Following Dir Yasin, in an apparent retaliation, Arab combatants block access to Hadassah Hospital, the Yishuv’s largest medical facility located on Jerusalem’s Mt. Scopus. A Zionist convoy, bringing food and supplies to the besieged hospital is then ambushed. A British military post, only 600 ft. away fails to aid the convoy. After seven hours of fighting, 79 members of the 105-person Jewish convoy are killed.
