The IDF releases partial findings of an internal probe into the military failures of October 7. It concluded (a) underestimation of Hamas’s intentions and capabilities, (b) intelligence failures and missed warning signs, (c) operational unpreparedness along with strategic misjudgments, (d) overreliance on technological surveillance, (e) lack of political accountability, (f) lack of critical internal review processes of asserted estimates. The first three findings were also identified in the Agranat Commission conclusions that reviewed Israel’s political and military shortcomings surrounding the October 1973 War.
