In his first visit to an Arab State, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid opened the country’s embassy in the United Arab Emirates. Correspondingly the UAE opened their embassy in Tel Aviv on July 14, 2021.  During his UAE visit, Lapid signed an economic cooperation agreement. The opening of both embassies operationalized the mutual recognition Accords signed between Israel and the UAE in September 2020. At that time and later in the fall, Bahrain, then the Sudan and Morocco signed mutual recognition agreements with Israel.
