Begin becomes the first Likud Prime Minister. This orderly, peaceful transfer of a power between political parties is a major milestone for Israeli democracy. Begin forms a coalition government with the Likud (including Shlomzion), the National Religious Party, Agudat Yisrael, an Independent member (Moshe Dayan) and The Democratic Movement for Change, which eventually joins the government
