Although there are less than 200,000 Jews living in Tel Aviv, it is already a bustling cultural center for art, music and literature. Two new Hebrew books are published daily, often yielding more than several thousand copies per publication. Jews in the yishuv read voraciously. The esteemed, Tel Aviv-based Palestine Orchestra performs regularly in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, and the Tel Aviv Museum has developed a world class collection of art including invaluable paintings by Rembrandt and Chagall.
